Buddle Findlay

A simple minimal design was the brief for the internal aesthethics of the refurbished Wellington offices of lawyers Buddle Findlay on levels 15-17 of the State Insurance Building.

For Forman Building Systems who worked with the architect on the selection and of the ceiling systems this meant supplying a range of products which were clean, slick, and professional looking within the overall budget.

John Kitchen,market manager for Forman Building Systems says “our main challenge was to achieve the acoustic requirements and integrate the lighting, air diffusers, and acoustic sliding door tracks into the metal and perforated plasterboard ceilings to maintain the architect’s high standards of aesthetic finish.”

The company supplied two different Armstrong exposed suspended ceiling systems - Armstrong’s blue tongue aluminium top hat grid was used with Metalworks 1200x300 micro-perforated steel acoustic ceiling tiles and Armstrong Peakform steel exposed grid was used with Armstrong RH99 Ultima tegular edge acoustic ceiling tiles.

Boral Echostop perforated plasterboard was installed on to Rondo Keylock plasterboard grid adjacent to both the Metalworks ceiling and Ultima ceiling to provide contrasting ceiling finishes.

Installation and integration of the different ceiling types required a high level of accuracy and liason with mechanical engineers Norman Disney Young ensured functionality and aesthethics were not compromised.
