Matamata College Gymnasium, Matamata

When architect Martin Galloway, of Integrated Development Solutions Ltd, took on the Matamata College Gymnasium project, he was looking to specify a light fitting with clean lines that would fit into ceiling gird but also produce enough light to meet education lighting standards.

The GL Flat Panel 1200x600, offered by Forman Building Systems, was specified due to its high lumen package, superior life expectancy, low maintenance, savings and impact resistance of the fitting. In addition, the gymnasium upgrade had a key focus of compliance with higher seismic standards; the GL Flat Panel fittings were seismically restrained using suspension kits.

The LED panels were supplied through Simpson Electrical Matamata and installed by Electrico Matamata. Both the electrical contractor and school principal were very impressed with the look and performance of the fittings, with principal Alan Monroe saying that the lighting levels were better than expected and was pleased with the results when the gymnasium was used at night.
