Previous lighting at Paradice Ice Skating Arena in Botany was using 20x 800W fittings for the general lighting of the arena, consuming over 16,000W of power.
The facility operates 7 days/week @ 15hrs/day. As a result, power consumption was high due to the large number of twin lamp 400W High Bay luminaires which historically provided the ice skating arena with artificial lighting.
Forman Building Systems Ltd replaced this lighting setup with 32 EdisonOpto 120W High Bay fittings with 140 degree PC reflectors.
This reduced the lighting load considerably to a low 3840W consumption.
Not only did the LED fittings reduce power consumption considerably, but due to the long life of the LED module and easy to clean small surface area, lens maintenance over the 50,000 hour life of the fitting is minimal.
The EdisonOpto fittings are IP65 rated thus protecting the ingress of dust and water from entering into the fitting which adds to its physical robustness.
LED has a very flat light depreciation curve over its life which means an even level of light can be maintained over the whole area with minimal, if any, colour shift. This means the fitting can still expect to be exceeding minimum lighting requirements at the end of its life.
In almost all areas of measurement and design, the EdisonOpto 120W LED pendant out-performs the existing twin-400W metal halide High Bays in efficiency, ongoing maintenance costs and quality of light.
This, combined with our complementary lighting design service, means we can place high quality levels of light wherever it is required.
