Update on The Christchurch operation – Orders and deliveries for the South Island
The recent earthquake in Christchurch has resulted in the closure of our Christchurch distribution warehouse. All staff and families are “safe and unharmed” however some have had their homes and lives placed into turmoil. The Forman group is working to support them as we endeavour to mobilise other branches across New Zealand to ensure we can assist customers in provinces and cities outside of the Christchurch area.
As a result there will be some disruption to South Island deliveries. It is unlikely that orders placed this week will be delivered by the end of this week.
Our current plan is to service the “South Island” from both the Dunedin and Wellington branches. At present all Christchurch phones, faxes and emails are being diverted to Auckland whilst we arrange suitable logistics options for the temporary solution.
Please continue to place your orders in the normal way. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you and your customer, and we appreciate your understanding through this difficult period.
We will look to inform you prior to the end of this week; on the “next steps” and the delivery expectations that this situation has created for us all. If you have any queries in regards to this letter please contact the Dunedin Office; Ian Day on 03 474 1800 or 0800 45 4000.
